So, I stopped by a new Big Lots that just opened, and ran into this rather interesting machine.

I'm not sure what the whole steam thing is about. Secondly, i'm not quite sure what kind of vacuum this could be. Where the heck would the dirt go?

Is this a vacuum or a hard floor steamer? I can see the hard surface steam thing, but vacuum????

Anyone.........Anyone..........Bueller..........Bueller......

about a year ago there was a combo canister vac steam cleaner with a power rug tool...sadly its gone from the site

Tssss!

I have seen ads for this Haan. It is supposed to vacuum floors and steam them all at the same time. I remember reading fairly negative ratings for this somewhere.

I've read more threads about steam cleaners on AW than here on VL. What do you guys think? I drank the steam Kool Aid early on and have had both floor and portable steamers. I finally decided that steam is good at getting rid of sticky, caked on messes, but for normal day to day cleaning, is more trouble than it is worth.

Dust collector bin?

Thanks for the info., Joe.

This obviously is really intened as a steam sanitizor, and not so much a vacuum. I'm guessing that vacuum portion is just about as useful as the vacuum on the Hoover Floormate.

As for the steam thing used while using it on carpeting - I'm guessing bare feet wouldn't be wise. That would leave me out right there!

This isn't what we think of when we hear the word steam vac, is it? I guess this is more a true definition of the word though, since true steam is involved. I think the dirt goes in the black part on the motor housing...

I saw these at my Big Lots a few days ago for the same price.... it almost came home with me, but that was more money than I was willing to spend for something that was a want instead of a need, so I just got my 40 dollar automatic trash can and high tailed it out of there before anything else came home with me (I was eyeing a table for my sewing machines (got similar one at Wal-mart though) and all kinds of kitchen toys that I already have! LOL

These were sold by QVC a while ago... maybe a year or so, and I watched the demo online.... neat concept, but I wonder how it works in real life. Looks really neat and seems to have a quality feel though!
