Grandma's Kitchenaid dishwasher

Grandma passed back in January and we've started clearing out her house. I was just thinking the other day she has an older kitchenaid dishwasher, Some models of them seem to receive very high praise and it got me wondering. Would it be worthwhile to disconnect it and try to sell it? I don't have any additional details quite yet but I can look at it again get some pictures and a model number this coming weekend. I just can't help but think would a new owner just replace it cause it's old? Is it one of those "hurricane in a box" style ones.

I love my 1993 Superba. I have another one out in the garage for parts if anything should ever happened to this one. As much as I love to cook and bake, and as many dinner parties as a throw, I couldn’t be without it, or my Hobart N–50 mixer from 1952.

Devin, if it's been cared for

well, I think I'd change it out. My friend had an old one (was sold with the house). It had: light, china..and PARTY" cycle. I'm assuming that was a large, heavy load. I was surprised.

Devin, If you get a picture or two along with the model and series no. this weekend I would definitely also post over at automaticwashers.org.There are a lot of members over there quite knowledgeable about dishwashers.They don't collect dishwashers like we collect vacuums but they sure know a lot about the ones they own. Just a thought.

The new owner may very well change it out because it is old. In fact they may gut the whole kitchen - seen it too many times. Typical sheeple want white and stainless on everything.

If you were nearby I would trade you my newer white GE for that one - I love the looks of yours and it would match my old black fridge.

Saving it for an appliance collector would be a good thing - try to sell it before changing it out though so it is not sitting around getting in the way.

I love my KitchenAid that we've had since 2010, it's my most favorite dishwasher of all time!

yes there is a market for old dishwashers. there was a miele in my restore and they wanted $200 for it and it sold within 3 days. it had a big fancy oak cabinet. no idea on the age. the label was in german.

Dishwashers are not my forte so i'm really not sure where to find a model tag on it. I'm just like....if this is as good as i've heard it would be a shame to see it get tossed simply for being old

Maybe you can take it to the Shoppers Square on automaticwasher.org and the members over there can give you a better idea of how old it is or what it's worth.

Beleive the model# and data is just inside of the door with the door open.You have a GOOD machine-these KA's are known on the Appliance site as the "Hurricanes in a box"and clean better then most machines-esp todays models-and this older one does it FASTER but with more water and power use.I prefer these machines-USE IT IN GOOD HEALTH!!!

I can't say that I know anything about dishwashers. Except that, like others have said, several folks on Automaticwasher sure do speak highly of the older Kitchen-Aid machines.
That linoleum gives me feels too!
Almost identical to what my parents put in the kitchen where I grew up.
It was installed in 1968. And, after all those years of reasonably heavy traffic, it still doesn't look horrible.
Granted, it doesn't quite take a shine like it used to. But, considering I'm approximately the same age as it is, I'd have to say it's aged better than I have!

As someone who has worked for the Whirlpool/KitchenAid Corporation and who has a house full of their products. Yes it would still be a good model and I think you would be extremely happy with it. From the pictures I see that the racks are in rough shape. I'm not sure if you can get new racks or not. I think you can. Most dish washers are pretty universal when it comes to interior size.
