Now THIS is one gorgeous Electrolux! And pretty rare too: It's the last version in hammertone blue, sold as a lower-tier model with the LX from cir.1953-56. (I am not sure exactly what year the blue version came out -- I've been told by Electrolux oldtimers that the earlier gray and chrome models were still being sold when the LX first came out, and that at some point, presumably when the stock ran out, they began producing them in blue.)
I was watching it, but had a feeling it would go high and it did. This is one case where I'd say the auction was worth every penny, maybe even more.
The only thing that would have made this even rarer would have been if it had LX-style blue leatherette. That would have meant it would have been from the very last of the "Blue XXX" run. I have only seen a couple of those in all my years as a collector, other than rebuilt models that is.
It's reeeeeeally beautiful isn't it.
Granted, the earlier chrome and polished model is gorgeous too, but there's just something about all that hammertone blue that makes my heart go pitty-patt!!
