Another bang up job you have done there Anthony, it looks great and even better that you have almost all of the original tool kit for it. Given that this was the TOL machine, I could never understand why Goblin put their cheapest hose on it, the same as on the economy 555 model.

What I did not realise until I got one myself was that the body is all plastic, this may possibly have been the earliest appearance of an all plastic bodied machine.

Looking at the cord grommet, I think this machine may have had a grey original flex (as would have the 555, presumably the 666 and the Housemaid models) although in in its earliest (mid 1960s) version it would probably have been blue or turquoise.

I have an Electra branded version of their upright cleaner (102/103/104 series) which has a shake out bag inside the cloth bag (it fits on the bellows like a paper bag) and it too is sealed with Velcro, which does not seem very practical - it would surely have been just as easy to supply a bag that could have been folded over and secured with a slide

hi Vacbear

the flex was blue there was about 9 inches of it inside the machine where someone had added the white flex with a taped up join which i cant understand surely if your going to the trouble of taking the back off the machine the conector block is staring you on the face so why do a join and yes i think the slide on clip would have been better than the velcro or even just the usual Goblin bag with the metal ring in the end. I may fashion some kind of filter to put behind the bag do you know if there was ever a filter at the back after the motor as you say it was Goblins best offering you would think there would have been as for the hose yes it could have been better having said that its stood the test of time and lasted longer than some of the Hoover stretch ones of the same period. We used to get lots of customers asking if we could fit a diffrent type of hose to there Hoover machine as some of them would be on there second or third hose when the machine was only 2 or 3 years old
