I have not used a Soniclean, but I have used both the Hoover and a F3600 Simplicity Freedom.
I'd definitely go for a Riccar/Simplicity over the Hoover i was not too impressed with the performance of the Hoover, plus each one i've seen either had or developed Circuit board issues, i ended up bypassing the one in mine and just installing a push switch.
