It's gotten to the point that the only bagged vacuum I have immediate access to is my Oreck, but I have just run out of bags. The thing is, I have a limited amount of funds and Oreck bags are really expensive. I do like the genuine bags, but is the price worth it? I've never used the generic before so I can't answer the question myself.

I have worked in an Oreck store part-time for years now, and whenever I see an Oreck come in with a generic bag, there always seems to be a lot of dust leakage around the port and inside the cloth bag. We sell our paper bags for 24.99/8 but even better are the hepa cloth, but pricier at 34.99/8. The hepa bags are the bomb, but even our paper bags filter better than the generics from what I've seen. Depending on your situation whether you have allergies and or pets, the paper bags could suit you well. It takes a lot of vacuuming to fill one of our bags, and most collectors I know vacuum frequently, so filling a bag takes a while, depending on the household that is. Check ebay or craigslist, sometimes if someone's Oreck bit the dust, they sell their bags and I've even seen some in thrift stores on occasion.

I have used the generic and as Rick said YUCK!!! they suck in a bad way. Also stay away from the Oreck blue bags if you do paper they also leak. The green ones are great and of course the cloth ones are awesome.

Rick do they even make the blue paper bags anymore????
