John,

Maybe I have only seen one in an old magazine add. I've never even heard of it before. I wonder if it was made in the USA, or Japan because of the slim design.

I have used one. My grandmother had one but by the time I was born she had a hoover convertible (model 70 I believe) and the GE retired to the basement. During a brief period when my moms model 33 was done she retrieved this from my grandmothers basement. I loved it. It was so different from a convertible. In my opinion it didn't clean as well as the convertible. We had it for about 6 months and then my mom purchased a new convertible in 1976 or so and the GE went back to my grandmothers basement. Years later my aunt borrowed it for a brief time and destroyed it. I remember seeing it once at her house and the handle was now cracked with tape holding it together. unfortunately it never made it back to the basement.

It was

Made in USA in 59 or 60, Kind of like the Singer's of the 50s, Dyson copied the roller type wheel when he made the ball.
