When replacing the dust bag hose on a Kirby, I notice that there is what appears to be heat shrink tape used to seal both ends, assuming this is what is used is this readily available from wherever (UK) I have searched ebay but they only seem to have `tubing` for electrical wire.

Any ideas for a source or a substitute (my other option would be electrical insulating tape)

Hey

If your talking about Kirby inner fill tube im guessing. You don't use electrical tape that's not how it came off assembly line.
3 options zip ties, I use metal hose clamps but best is an adhesive. I bought one that's the best adhesive it glues plastic to metal basically the best universal adhesive. I'm looking for mine to show you a picture it used to be called goo glue they renamed it it's e6000. If you know Kirby needs or Kirby fan from eBay. He has a heritage emtor with adaptor and fill tube attached this is what he used and he told me about it. I have done what you are doing 20 times using this adhesive. It's still Walmart for $4-$5. You could use clear silicone but it doesn't have universal ability as it may only work on wood etc. Ya get e6000.

fantomfan57.........There is probably some merit in the warning, however at my late stage in life I am more worried about all the toxins I have been exposed to over the years before we got all the warnings on the back of packs, seriously I cringe at some of the stuff I have been exposed to, back in the day we never had face masks or the like.
It will be a one off using e6000 and applied outdoors, if I was using regularly then I may have second thoughts.
But thanks for the warning though.

Hey

If it holds garage doors sealing you should think. Your car emissions and garage is part of the house. There was no toxic label. I'm pretty sure that if you get any adhesive or epoxy it's going to be similar.

I'm sure silicone in the smaller than small writing is a warning.
I have used it successfully and I have people with asthm and allergies and it's not affected anyone. I can tell you it seals it holds. It's from makers of shoe goo. Idk. It's meant to seal plastic to metal and that is what you need. I have a setup for sentria 2 bag assembly I use abs pipes I glue together with purple plumbers glue. That is way more harmful than this and you drink water from it. I'd recommend that but your not connecting to it.
Idk I have tried everything and this holds and keep seal. I have not found anything close. I was told by Kent oyler and he did auto body work. He uses on his Kirby's and he is probably the highest volume if Kirby parts in the US. He was in military too. If he uses it and suggested it to me. I take his word and my own experience your not going to die. Zip ties blow off or break off.

Hey

That size is size I just sealed my tradition.
I realize all the warning labels I worked in retail. If any flammable material was inside you have to disclose ingredients. If it is flammable it has to go by train and boat. They don't let these items on airplanes since 9 11. Isopropyl alcohol olive oil nail polish remover and lighters are combustible. Olive oil so take it with a grain of salt. You have to seal and have outside agency pick up. I think it's funny. They dumped everything into garbage asbestos so many things. They started global warming and now we're everything is past the point of rescue they care.
If you follow technology of cars we should all own electric cars. Why don't we. The big oil companies buy out smaller technology and ensure gas. George Bush was part owner of haleburton and they made a buttload of money off oil.
We are all so worried yet we drive gasoline powered cars. We don't have solar or wind power being self sufficient and companies burn everything in the air. If were going worry about little things it's hyoocrical with our gasoline cars so many toxins. We are all guilty and we're analyzing glue. I think there are alot bigger fish to fry. I'm just saying basically we're all Hippocrates.
It's kind of funny. I'm not calling anyone out. I just think our society analyzing the things that really don't tip the scale of environment and we drive gasoline powered cars.
Hindsight is 20 20.

I just think it's ironic.

Hah, joke's on you, it says it's only toxic in the state of California. I'm safe then.

:3

It probably just has a bit of lead in it, big deal. Just don't eat it, and you'll be fine. California is just anal about having those warning labels. Seriously, go to the hardware store, pick up any brass pipe fitting. Read the label. It says certified lead-free by federal gov't, then it also says it "may" contain lead, blah blah blah, in the state of California. That whole spiel is just political bs.

Hey

That's true and cars are only dangerous in California. It's weird. Just stay away from California and your safe.
