That is a wonderful machine! I had the exact same 6500, in which i completely rebuilt the motor and it ran perfect for many years. My housekeeper really loved that machine. Its so simple and straight forward to use, you really can screw anything up. I had the entire light gray Electrolux line for a while, the 3500 upright, 6500 canister, and Renaissance. I traded my 6500 and Renny for a Miele Red Velvet which was a fabulous machine. I found a beige and blue Epic 6000 in the trash in wonderful condition and with a new vinyl hose. The only problem with it was the hose was clogged and it needed some cleaning up. I changed the head light and put in the newest style brush roll and it runs fabulous. I liked the plastic wand system of the 6500, its very easy to manuever, however the traditional wand set up it much lighter and I find easier to use. Just pull the hose out of the PN wand sheath and put it into the bare floor chrome wands and you are set to tackle any bare floor / above floor need with ease. If only these machines had a bit more suction power, then they would really give Miele a run for their money. You just cant beat the simplicity, ease of use, and dependibility of these Electrolux's!
