That is an odd looking duck, Pete. Cover plate hardly seems up to Hoover standards...must be the bol model that was not intended to accept the hose fitting.
I have two but they have a decorative curved clip-in plate for hose & belt access.
Your phone message said you found a Lark upright...I was so hoping it would be the Blue one with red trims.
