<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">I was originally hoping to have an official "For Sale" thread posted for this sooner - so I sincerely apologize to everyone for the delay!</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">If you're not familiar with my quest to find Replacement Bag Gaskets for my Royal Prince m501 & m5000 Hand Vacuums -- Please read my original thread here: https://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?41628</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"><span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt;">Essentially, I have found a supplier who carries AN EXACT OEM REPLACEMENT FOAM GASKET MATERIAL that is *IDENTICAL* to the original bag ring gaskets used on Royal Prince m501 & m5000 hand vacuums.</span> -- Thanks to a fellow VacuumLand member, it has been brought to my attention that a number of other Royal Vacuum Models also used this same style of foam gasket material as well.</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">===================================================================</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">To re-cap the information in my original Royal Prince Bag Gasket thread:</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">In my quest to find an "improved" bag gasket for Royal Prince m501/m5000 Hand Vacuums, I have tried three different sizes of this adhesive-backed foam gasket material:</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">>> [1/4" Wide × 1/4" Thick]</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">>> [3/8" Wide × 1/4" Thick]</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">>> [3/8" Wide × 5/16" Thick]</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">... After much trial-and-error (and money spent) I have reached the conclusion that the [3/8" Wide x 1/4" Thick] Foam Gasket Material is the overall best possible sealing solution for the bag ring on Royal Prince m501/m5000 Hand Vacuums.</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">Here’s a summary of my findings that led me to this conclusion:</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">>> In comparison to the factory [1/4" x 1/4"] bag gasket, the [3/8" × 1/4"] gasket material provides an improved seal between the Bag Ring & Housing.</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">>> The "improved" [3/8" × 1/4"] bag gasket maintains *full compatibility* with the use of Royal 'Type H' paper bags.</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">>> The "improved" [3/8" × 1/4"] gasket material minimizes the force necessary to remove & replace the bag assembly when used with 'Type H' paper bags. - With this gasket, it is no more difficult to remove & replace the bag assembly than it is with the original bag gasket.</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">>> In contrast, the thicker [3/8" × 5/16"] gasket material made the bag assembly substantially more difficult to remove & replace. (Due to the additional force required to compress the thicker 5/16" foam.) -- IMHO, the [3/8" Wide × 5/16" Thick] gasket provides an even better seal than the [3/8" Wide × 1/4" Thick] gasket. - But the added thickness simply makes it too difficult for the average user to remove & replace the bag assembly; thus making it less practical for real-world use.</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">Overall, I'm extremely happy to have found a reliable source for replacement bag gaskets for Royal Prince Hand Vacuums that are an *exact match* to the factory/OEM Royal bag gasket material. -- Plus! It's been 25 Years since the production of Royal Prince Hand Vacuums has ended, and I'm seemingly the first individual to have successfully found "A Better Royal Prince Bag Gasket" that fits properly & provides improved sealing capability over the factory bag gaskets, which have long been notorious for leaking dirt.</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">=====================================================================</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">So, as promised - I am making this same Natural Foam Rubber Bag Gasket material w/ Adhesive Backing available to VacuumLand.org Members!</span>

<span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">I have THREE SIZES AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE:</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">>> <span style="font-size: 14pt;">[1/4" Wide × 1/4" Thick]</span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"> - This size is an *EXACT* OEM replacement for Royal Part #1-501409 and is *IDENTICAL* to the factory bag ring gasket on Royal Prince hand vacuums.</span></span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">>> <span style="font-size: 14pt;">[</span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">3/8" Wide × 1/4" Thick]</span> - This size is the "Improved/Upgraded" bag ring gasket that I found to work best on Royal Prince hand vacuums - which improves sealing capability over the factory bag gasket & maintains full compatibility with Royal 'Type H' paper bags.</span></span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">>> <span style="font-size: 14pt;">[</span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">3/8" Wide × 5/16" Thick]</span> - This size is the "Overkill/Ultimate Seal" bag ring gasket that provides the *best possible seal* on Royal Prince hand vacuums & still works with Royal 'Type H' paper bags - BUT! The added thickness of this gasket material makes it more difficult to remove & replace the bag assembly on Royal Prince hand vacuums when used in combination w/ 'Type H' paper bags. (IT WILL WORK & CAN BE DONE! - It's just more difficult to compress the thicker gasket in order to lock the bag assembly in-place.)</span></span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">INFORMATION FROM THE MANUFACTURER:</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">~ Because this natural foam rubber readily bounces back to shape after compression, it’s a good choice for repetitive sealing applications, such as on door frames.</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">~ These foam strips stand up to wear caused by rubbing & scraping.</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">~ These foam strips have an open-cell construction, which allows air, water, & gases to permeate the material.</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">~ These foam strips have a crisscross texture which provides a non-slip gripping surface.</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">~ These foam strips have an Adhesive Backing which utilizes an Acrylic Adhesive.</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">~ Acrylic adhesives provide good resistance to oxidation, yellowing, solvents, and UV.  They also bond to a large number of substrates including many difficult-to-bond-to materials.</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">~ Both the foam strips & adhesive backing are UV-Resistant & are suitable for Outdoor Use.</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">~ These foam strips & their adhesive backing have a Temperature Range of -20°F -to- 160°F.</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">I will be selling these Replacement Bag Gaskets in Pre-Cut 14" Lengths for use in the Bag Rings of Royal Prince Hand Vacuums.</span></span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">The original Royal Prince Bag Gaskets measure anywhere from 13-1/8" -to- 13-5/8" in length. - Thus, you will receive an oversize length of 14" so that you, the customer, can cut your replacement bag gasket to-size during installation, for the best possible fit.  <span style="text-decoration: underline;">NOTE:</span> These 14" Lengths of adhesive-backed gasket material will be cut with a Maximum Length Tolerance of  +0.500" / -0.000" - which means that you will receive a bag gasket that is a bare minimum of 14" long; up to a maximum of 14-1/2" long.</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">If you order two of the same-size bag gaskets, you will receive two separate 14" lengths, unless otherwise requested.</span></span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;">Upon request, I can provide multiple quantities as one continuous length of 28" / 42" / etc.</span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

<span style="font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva;"> </span>

Bag gasket

SO HAPPY I found this site and was able to find a suitable new bag gasket for my Royal Prince. I purchased my machine over 30 years ago at the sadly departed Joseph Horne Company in downtown Pittsburgh. I was in college when I first saw this sturdy machine but the price was way over my budget. Luckily it did go on sale and I figured I could give up a couple beers and pizza to get it. Over the years the gasket wore down, with dust and cat hair billowing out the sides.

I’ve had several email contacts with Justin purchasing the replacement gaskets. This purchase has been an absolutely stellar experience. Justin promptly replies to emails, thoroughly explains how to install the gasket and provides updates/tracking for the order. I was pleasantly surprised to see how nicely packaged the gaskets were— very professional! Definitely recommended!

Posted here is the original, disintegrated gasket and the new 3/8 inch one!

BUMP! 🆙🔝

Does anyone else need a Bag Gasket for their Royal Prince M501 or M5000 Hand Vacuum?

I have over a hundred feet of OEM Royal gasket material in-stock & ready to ship! 😁👍

Thanks For Looking!

~Justin in Chicago

I ordered several of these bag gaskets a couple of months ago, and they arrived promptly and well-packed. Only now am I getting around to replacing the worn and leaking gaskets on my Royal 501 and 5000 hand cleaners.

Along with the three vacuums' worth of 1/4" gasket material I ordered (enough for my two plus a spare) Justin kindly sent a sample of the thicker 5/16" gasket. So, I decided to use that on my burgundy 5000 machine. As Justin said in the description and the note he included, the thicker gasket does seal extremely well, but makes the bag quite difficult to attach and remove.

I am sharing some pictures of the gaskets, as well as my two Princes!

(After uploading I see the photos are displaying in the reverse order from the way I wanted them, as it appears they default to showing newest to oldest. Not sure how to fix that, so please start at the last one)

TheMaritimeGirl - I must truly & sincerely apologize for not responding to your e-mail sooner!!

I'm keenly aware I haven't been very active on VacuumLand lately - But I'm here now & I will be making an increased effort to engage with these forums on a more frequent basis from here on forth.
