Fix or don't fix Dyson Airmuscle?

Someone just gave me a Eureka The Boss Smart Vac and a Rebuilt Dyson Dc28 Airmuscle. The Eureka works fine, and i'm donating it to veterans in need. The Dyson Dc28 appears to have a dead/faulty powerhead motor. I've tried any and all resetting methods, even calling Dyson's customer service. Nothing is working. The vacuum was very poorly maintained. Is the brushroll motor gone for good? Should I take it in to be looked at? It's long out of warranty. I see a new base with for $110 on Amazon. It may just need to be reset. I know this model was trouble prone so I may just find a used DC17, and part this one out. Any thoughts?

It could be burnt out which in that case then there's not much point in trying to fix it, unless a new motor would be cheaper than a whole new "unit".

I think I was mistaken!

I'm not sure if there is a brushroll motor seperate. The vac motor itself runs fine. I need a special screw drive to access that area and I don't have one at the moment. The motor runs, but the brush doesn't spin.

That does not have its own motor for the brushroll. It uses and electronically controlled clutch to engage/ disengage the brush. So with that being said it's probably something to do with that control setup.

The DC17 has a brushbar motor, I don't think the DC28 does because the main suction motor has a cogged spindle for a toothed belt so that must drive the thing aswell
