Fantom Fury Vacuum Cleaner

Hi Everyone!


 


My Mom has asked me to restore her favorite vacuum cleaner, the Fantom Fury (model FY-51), to its former glory. Great news to me, but I have been unable to find the part I need to complete it. The vacuum itself is in overall great shape except for the fact that it will not remain in the upright and locked position. After disassembling the lower half, the cause has been found. The plastic base has broken in several places over time and needs a full replacement now. The vacuum works perfectly otherwise. My question to all is: does anyone have a spare Fantom Fury Base (part #73398-0340) they are willing to sell?


 


For several months, I've been scouring Craigslist, ebay, and local thrift shops for a Fantom Fury, to take the part off of,  with no luck. I've even tried Sears Parts Direct, but it's been discontinued and no longer available. All my mom's vacuum needs is the Base piece. She has the original paperwork from when she bought it new back in 1998 and even has the video tape that came with it! If anyone knows of a good lead for a replacement, I would be much appreciative.

is there a possibility we could get a pic of the machine seeing that there is a newer and an older version of the fury... I have a machine that I would possibly be willing to part out and a buddy of mine might have one or two he would be willing to part out.
