I have a Eureka Victory (Mega Boss, I think) at my grandma's house, and the vacuum is in somewhat poor condition (still works, it has lots of scratches and scuffs on it. Needs a new bottom plate). I really like the design of these machines, and I bought it because I saw it at a thrift store and I just had to have it. I think it was $4.99. I replaced the brushroll, belt, and the pre motor filter. I also took it all apart and cleaned it all out. I gave it to my grandmother because she wanted a vacuum cleaner with a hose (she has a Kirby G4, and I have yet to witness her putting the hose on it. She just wanted another machine with a hose for the corners and stuff). She didn't like it because it is bagged, so she bought a bagless Bissell (ugh) and has now been using the Bissell instead of her Kirby. I'm thinking about getting the Eureka back, and possibly rebuilding it or something. I know that it needs a new bottom plate and I think I'd like to replace the cord, bag cover, and possibly the motor. Would it be worth it? I found lots of Eureka Victory parts on Hesco.

the bottom plate is the whole lower housing. If hesco sells them cheap it's worth it. I do my best not to replace cords. If it's got nicks just tape them up good. No reason to buy a new cord if the old just needs some tape or splicing!

With the prices i'm finding on Ebay...

there is no way it's worth it just to have a good vacuum to use. However it may be very satisfying & worth the money for you to keep that vac running...only you know the answer to that question.

The vacuum is currently working, I just really like this style of machine and I'd kind of like to have it in better condition, so if I did this then it wouldn't be so I could have a good vacuum to use.
I haven't checked any prices yet. I think it might be better for me to just wait and see if I can find another one like it in better condition, since this vacuum has lots of nicks in the cord and has lots of really badly scratched parts, and will need a new motor soon.
