Jeff...

I am glad that you like the Eureka...it was a very nice machine. I did sneak it in under cover of darkness...living in North Canton, I could get my legs broke bringing in a bojack to the neighborhood!!LOL! All kidding aside, it is a very good, well made machine and vacuums beautifully. I wish I had tried it on the shag! The agitator is awesome. Happy Hoovering...errr...Eureka"ing".

Great Eureka

Jeff, you lucky stiff, what a great early 70's Eureka. I remember friends having that machine back in the early 70's. Always thought they were great.
I just found a 1940's Eureka model D272, There must have been
very few of them made and or purchased back in the day. I have only seen one in all of my years. It is burgandy, with a side bag on the right. Reminds me of a Hoover 115 (ok Tom, don't get upset, it just reminds me). Has a light and a
romovable belt cover on the front. Well maybe more like a late 40'early 50's Westinghouse because of the color and style. I should have it in another day or two. Will try to get a pic and tell you aow it works. The one I had in the 80's needed an armature. So never got to run it!!

Thank you Jeff! i was wondering if i was gonna have to ask for some pics! i LOVE Eurekas, and the all metal construction of this machine with its Vibra Groomer makes this one of the best made Eurekas ever. and that bag is soo unusual, so 60s!

Eureka!!!

Wow!!

Eureka was my favorite vacuum growing up. The church that I cleaned as a teenager owned a Eureka and two round Sunbeam canisters. The Eureka had a full set of cleaning attatchments less the bare floor tool.

It just had the wooden brush roll with beater bar. It did a great job of cleaning that old red carpeting that is still in the church today....and I have not been a teenager for a very long time. The vibra-groomer 1 would have made it a great cleaner.

Enjoy your vacuum Jeff... everyone should get a new vacuum for their birthday... well at least a great old vacuum not made out of plastic.

Great cleaner Jeff! What a wonderful surprise and gift. That would have been one of the last to have that cool-looking bag too.

Childhood memories

Thanks guys... I remember neighbors of ours getting one of these new when I was a kid. Their house had all parquet floors, and they got wall to wall carpeting. Their vacuum before was a Eureka canned ham 1020BT, and it would not clean the new carpet very well, so they got the upright. Theirs was older, it did not have the VGI but the wooden disturbulator. I was fascinated with that cleaner!
So having one almost new is a treat indeed! I could not believe the condition when I took it out of the box!
Thanks again Tom!

That is a very cool Eureka! Ooooooo! It's got the metal base and the Vibra Groomer! You're gonna deep clean for years!!! The bag is beautiful! I've never seen that bag before...but it has to be one of the most acceptable white bags that I have ever seen! Very pretty!

Aren't classic Eurekas just wonderful???
