I'd buy these instead.
They're less wattage, they're cheaper, and they're designed to last longer. I have one on my Sanitaire S677 and it shines just like the old 25 watt bulbs.

They are still made, just called appliance bulbs now, higher in price, and harder to source locally.
My microwave and dryer uses these, as well as my older Kirbys.
I got a 10-pack of these which should last me a lifetime:

I tried the 15W and they were okay, just not bright enough for my liking. They can get you by, though.

I was able to get the Satco incandescents after all—for a buck apiece at a lighting store—presumably because they order them in bulk; otherwise I would have gone with the LEDs.
I guess they're just not as popular as the 15-watt ones, so retail stores typically no longer stock them.

I actually used to use 25 watt bulbs in my vacuums. Like you, I wasn't satisfied with the brightness of the 15 watt bulbs, especially in some vacuums & powerheads with designs that restrict the light coming out somewhat. The problem I had with them is that they barely lasted more than 2 months before having to change them! And that's a problem I NEVER had using 15 watt bulbs. It's almost as if the vacuum itself burns them out prematurely.
For that reason alone, I use LEDs in my vacuums now. And I can totally see how incandescent appliance bulbs will be obsolete in the next 5 to 10 years, considering LEDs last so much longer & use much less energy.
