Got this awhile back from ChicagoMike in very rough shape. I’ve been painting all of the previously rusted parts red, except for the high use ones like the cord hooks and the handle stopper. I instead sanded and buffed them. The aluminum is not buffed to perfection, as there are several deep nicks in the front, and some very deep scratches on the sides of the head that, if buffed out, would leave the metal severely weakened. Now all I need to do is finish up on the model tag, and get a bag. The bag that I’d like to find is off white, with red lettering and a red clip. Jason Davis had one for sale, but he cannot find it now. If anyone has one that they would sell, please let me know!

Also, apologies for the bad lighting, tomorrow I’ll take it out on the porch and get some better pics. The first two are how I got it, the bag was faded to 3 different shades of brown! Lol

Thanks! Got some pics of it today. The wheels are a bit dirty, but it'll get a final clean when I get a bag. I may end up replacing the plug as well, the original had seen some heat and was full of cracks.

Oh wow

Great job! Can you let me know the model number. I have two from around the same era. One is direct air and the other is a two speed belt driven brush roll model. One had a side mounted bag,which got lost during a move I believe, the other had no bag. Both had long shiny black handles, one has a wooded handle grip. Both Eureka's, I'll pull them from the moth ball fleet and post the model numbers.

If I knew what the bags looked like I could probably have them custom made. Hard to find any bags for 90+ year old vacuum cleaners!

"De-Luxe Model K" is the model name. None of these have given model numbers, just where they sit in the lineup. They made the base model, with a bolted head, small wood handle top, and external handle-to-motor connection;

The next up was the same, but with a standard, quick release head;

And then there is this, with a full wooden grip, internal handle connection, and quick release head.

Your straight suction could be any model up to this one, and the 2 speed one sounds like a model R, or maybe M. If you would like to sell it, let me know!

Huh, I think I found another change between models. Yours does not appear to have a mechanism for the brush to lock up and down, and mine does. Interesting.
Love the look! That is the kind of bag I'd like to find, if you know someone who can make one similar, please let me know!

Thanks!

Also, to anyone wondering, yes I need to paint the porch. lol

yep

Kieran,

Interesting I wonder how many differences there was between the deluxe model and the other model? I also wonder how long the K model was made? Thanks again Kieran for your feedback. I hope you can find a nice bag for it someday, and post some pictures when you do.

Jim
