I've been think about buying a Sanitaire recently, but was a little put off by the high retail price. So I was thrilled when I walked into the Goodwill outlet last night to spot this commercial Eureka! I've seen similar models in the past, but only in grey and chrome, never orange.  I haven't been so impressed with a vacuum for awhile. The base is made of a heavy and extremely durable steel; you can hardly hear it pick up anything as it doesn't vibrate. The motor runs at 3.5amps. The lowest amperage Eureka I've used was 4amps. Although I still find that motor my favorite, this still cleans wonderfully. Plus, I love that's it's so energy efficient. 480watts is certainly an improvement over my 1200watt Electrolux. I also like the Vibra-Groomer I, which seems to make better use of airflow compared to the II.

Does anyone know when this was produced? I'm thinking it's from the late 70s, judging by the logo and "The Eureka Company" model sticker.  I think the bag is a replacement since it's in such good shape.  Would anyone be able to confirm this? Even if it is bojack, this is one fantastic replacement.

Good things come to those who wait!

Score!

.
Is that a shake out bag? Is so the air flow will be phenomenal compared to something strangled with a Hepa anything.
That said if you are an allergy sufferer the trade would not be welcome. All of which you already probably know.
Whatever the case it looks and probably sounds great...i just love Eureka/Sanitaire commercial vacs.

Thanks everyone. Yes, it does have a shake-out bag. At times the airflow can be louder than the motor. I considered trying a disposable bag setup, but I'd rather not hinder performance. Whoever owned this before certainly kept care of it; they even included 4 new belts. I wonder why they donated it. Everyone should have a vacuum of this quality!

Awesome Find

I heard those Eureka uprights are really good. The fact it's from the late 1970's is back when Eureka and Electrolux were seperate divisions.

After 1974, The Eureka Company was owned by the large Swedish company AB Electrolux. Therefore, this commercial Eureka upright was sold by AB Electrolux. If the brandplate had said "Eureka Williams", then we would know that it had no corporate connection to AB Electrolux, because it would have been produced before the takeover in 1974.

Oh okay. I just wanted to make a point.

Bagintheback, how does the vacuum compare to your others? I wouldn't mind a video on it.

director12, it's a fantastic vacuum. I love the sound of the motor. It has a little electrical bong sound the first second you switch it on, which I really enjoy. I have to admit Hoover had a better bong sound though. The VibraGroomer I is fantastic for my carpeting, and I can easily carry the machine upstairs. I'm really happy with it.

I recently picked up some new-model plastivacs from the Goodwill to refurb and resell on Craigslist. They sell well, but nothing beats a good bag-in-the-back vacuum!

That's amazing. And what plastic vacuums did you buy? I would love to have pictures on them, maybe a video demonstration.
