First off, I am a bit new to vacuum cleaner work, but am very handy. I apologize if these questions are beginner but I have searched and found no answers as of yet.

I have two older Eureka uprights. The 674B was a wedding gift to my parents and I have owned it since I started college. The 2091 I just bought yesterday. I thought $10 was a steal and it appears to have an original color-matching bag and the stickers are still sttached. It needs a belt/light bulb and new VG II brush strips.

The 674B was serviced years back before it was given to me but it is time once again to give it some attention. The bag, which I assume is quite old and possibly original (off-white, plastic type material with micro-holes and sort of a light green, paisley pattern) is ripped in a few places near the bottom. Is there any place I can find a replacement bag that isn't obviously for a newer or different color model? Both of these units are green and I love the matching bags. Does anyone have a spare bag with green accents of this vintage?

Secondly, as far as motor brushes go, is there a certain part number I should look for when replacing these? I see the Sanitaire line may use a similar motor but I am not sure exactly which brushes go with what. Excuse my ignorance. Would it be best to have a vacuum shop rebuild the motor?

My plan is to dis-assemble these and give them a good bath and cleaning, then replace any serviceable parts and keep them going for years to come. I will try and take some photographs of the vacuums.

Thanks for the link. Not only is that the same bag I have now, but it's in Morgantown, PA. Roughly 30 minutes from my parents house. Small world.

Sadly, before I saw your reply I picked up some supplies from a local vacuum shop which included a new, white, cloth Eureka bag, 15w bulbs, new brushes, new belts and even a set of carbon brushes!

I worked on the 2091 last week and finished it up. i took it completely apart and soaked and scrubbed everything with soapy water. It looks so good now I almost don't want to use it. I'm not sure how to clean the cloth outer bag. I've seen where someone put it through the washer and used the delicates setting.

Here are some photos of it after I was done:

Your best bet is washing it gently in the sink, I've had disaster with vacuum bags and washing machines! Does that bag have the sticker logos on it? I know mine does, but mine's a ESP with the very early 1978 vinyl bag.

Gotcha. I wouldn't want to damage it. I think the logos are permanent, though you can still make out the writing on the sticker applied to the brush roll. The "Power Driven Brush" sticker is still attached to the hood.
