can anyone tell me is this the original bag to this eureka, found at local thrift store for $10. works great and is pretty clean a little dust on the bottom.Handle isnt even scratched up like most eurekas arelight even works great find for me I have never had this model befor...........

1941-D

For 5 bucks, I couldn't walk away from this Eureka Model 1941-D! The official hood color name is Cinnamon, so it seems fitting to think of the bag color as Oatmeal in honor of one of my favorite breakfasts (with apples, too)—especially this time of year.

Other noticeable differences between it and the Type E besides the bag cover screen print are the logotype on the hood and motor amps. I also wonder if the agitator brush strips on the E are original or replacements due to the color variance with the D.

According to my research, the Model 1941 was manufactured from 1982 to 1988. Interestingly, the handle screws & nuts are metal; but on my Model 1458-D—manufactured around the same time in the early- to mid-'80s—they are plastic. So the upper trim models continued to be equipped with them for awhile anyway. I'm unsure if plastic ones were eventually used for all F & G models. The cord hooks on both are plastic (unfortunately).

Anyway, the motor sounds great and except for some hood scratches received over the last 35 years, it's still able to "sweep you off your feet" as the mid- to late Eureka slogan went!

That's a great little vacuum cleaner, and for 5 bucks...come on. My friend was going to pitch his model #5071 because the motor was acting erratic. I adopted the cleaner and took it to my guy in town. Just needed a new set of carbons.He said whoever owned this machine probably used it in the ESP mode most of the time, which will wear the brushes down much faster.

These machines in my humble opinion, cleaned as well as their cousins the Sanitaire's at that time, just dressed up for Sunday school. The TOL Eureka's with all the bells and whistles were pretty close price wise to Sanitaire's if I recall correctly. 269.00+.

Question: Did Sanitaire ever offer a self-propelled model in either the red or blue line back then (70's-80's)?

Question#2! How many Eureka's do you currently own from the beginning thru the mid 80's give or take?

Hi Billy,

Thanks! Congrats on retrieving your friend's Cinnamon Model 5071 from the trash can. That model succeeded the Model 5070 in 1981 that had the ESP switch by the Rugulator. The 5071 was manufactured through 1989. I'm not sure what Type yours is, but I think the 5071-A (and possibly -B) had a 6.2-amps motor—presumably like the 5070—versus the Types D & E equipped with the 6.7-amps motor.

To answer your questions: 1) I was unable to find any advertisements featuring a Sanitaire self-propelled model. 2) The other '80s Eureka uprights I own are the models 1458-D and 2124-A "Imperial".

Nipple Numerals

So how do the nipple numerals read? It seems like it would be '86', but that doesn't align with the new logotype labeling of 1983. Is it June of 1983?
