What parts do I need to replace the lower bearing on a 1489A upright with a 4.8 amp motor? Also, how do I go about installing it? I recently bought the machine off of eBay and I intend to restore it as completely as possible. Thanks.

is something wrong with the current bearing? they are usually long lasting.

i believe the old rivets have to be drilled out, then re-riveted once a new bearing and retaining plate is in place. Hesco and some vac shops should be able to supply the "lower bearing kit" You'll likely need a rivet tool to install the new rivets.

1400 bearing

It is best to replace the whole bearing plate housing, on these models. the biger motors you can just change the bearing.
I would replace the top sleeve bearing to, as they are bad most of the time.
