Eureka 1400, 1900, 2000, 5000 Series Uprights

Could anyone familiar with classic Eureka uprights, like Brian aka @eurekaprince, please tell me the general differences between the 1400, 1900, 2000 and 5000 series uprights?

As best as my knowledge goes, the 1400 series was most utilitarian, with the 1900s being step-up units, then the 2000s with their "ESP" motors, and then highest is the 5000s which are self-propelled.

And if I could outline the Sanitaire SC600/800 series motors with the equivalent classic Eureka 1400/1900/2000/5000 series, the SC679 "Maid Saver" is analogous (meaning "comparable to") to a 1400 series, the SC684 step-up is analogous to a 1900 series, and the SC886/888/899 are all analogous to that of the 2000 series, correct?

I would also like to know when each of these model series groups first came about, and for lack of a better answer I'd guess it was around 1979.

Hi Ben (and all),

I happened across this thread in a Eureka upright search. Even though it’s been years since you requested the information, here it is for you and other researchers—inclusive of all the “F & G” bag uprights series. It includes only the main details of models and series. I have posted more complete information on threads 44230 ("Color-Pak") and 45562 ("Untangling Eureka's 'Christmas Lights'"). In addition, Nick (texbodemer) posted thread 44972 ("My Eureka Data Model Thread") with some great details.

I collected the data from VL posts, newspaper ads, and other online information. Series years listed indicate advertising—not necessarily production.

My knowledge of Sanitaire is limited, so I'm unable to validate or invalidate any analogies between its and Eureka's model number characteristics you mentioned. It would be great if they are.

Essentially, the 1400 Series succeeded the "Deluxe" 220-230-250 model subsets of the 200 Series, and the 2000 Series replaced the "Twin Power" 240-260-270 model subsets of the 200 Series; albeit before 1973 the 2000 Series consisted of the entire spectrum. The later series were enhancements or updates of the 2000 Series. Interestingly, beginning in the '60s "F & G"s were designated as "Deluxe" if their features were limited; then from the mid-1970s and beyond (from the time of ABElectrolux's ownership) it was used for models with enhanced features. Hoover USA did just the opposite.

2. What was (were) the length(s) of the S-200/D-360 and 200 Series models—manual and Cordaway?

3. Are some of the 1400 Series factory cords shorter than 20 feet (the "Imperial" model-type 1444-A has a 25-foot cord)?

4. Were all the pancake/high profile motors in the table above Lamb 2-stage motors? (presuming that the blender motor is single stage)

Going to the "Eureka Lot"

One of the Eureka newspaper ads I located was next to a Chrysler ad featuring all of its 1964 line-up. I couldn't help but think that Eureka exec's considered such auto options and thought what was good for the goose was good for the gander; so I included that ad to illustrate my point.
