The primary function of a vacuum cleaner is to clean carpets, hard floors and furniture and whilst a Dyson will do 2 of those things to an acceptable level, in 22 years, I have yet to find a Dyson that will clean a carpet anywhere near as well as an old Hoover Senior, Electrolux 500, any of the Kirby's or even Goblin Commander's and Moulinex Major's. The fact that it has an efficient cyclone doesn't mean it cleans better.</blockquote>
