Got this today - says Eureka Super-Power on the hood - says it's a model 248. The brush roll is shot and I haven't turned it on yet, but the lady said it worked. Looks like it'll polish up really nicely!

$10 seemed more than fair?

I'm having a hard time finding a replacement brush roll for this vacuum - the one that is on there is all wood with square shaped bits on the ends. -- if anyone can point me in a direction that I might find one, I'd greatly appreciate it!

That should be it. it has the square ends on it and it is a vibra groomer 2. should be sufficient. btw the reason the brush roll has a pair of bigger brushes and a pair or regular size brushes it because back when this machine came out, hoover still had their patents on it's brush roll so eureka could not really copy that design yet so they made a pair of bigger brushes to act as beaters!

Wow, that's an old one!  It obviously got a new cord and bag at some point and I don't think I've ever seen one from that era with a push-button switch.  As for the brush roll, I'm not an expert on vintage Eurekas but I would have expected it to have a Disturbulator....one row of fat stubby bristles and two rows of longer, thinner bristles spaced closely together.  Perhaps the brush roll you have there predates the Disturbulator.   I wonder if you could use the roller from a new Vibragroomer I but substitute the metal end caps from the old brush roll.

Will this bag fit on this machine and let me use throw away bags? Is it that simple? What bag would this machine have come with?

in your picture of the underside you will see ( on the left side of pic ) a little nipple inside of a circle, most of the time this will have two numbers that are the year of production. I wonder if this one has those numbers?

the numbers in the "nipple" are 677 / 10

Yes Graham, that bag will work perfectly. I think from the numbers on the bottom, it was produced in '67, don't know about the other numbers, forgot how to read them. That's a really nice Eureka, never have seen that one before. I don't think the VGII will fit due to the hex shaped fittings, might want to look further on that.

Oct 7th 1967.......the 10 is the month and the 7 is the day...it makes perfect sence!!!

and graham, what is the amps of this machine, im guessing a 3.5...if so then why was it adveristing "super Powerd" on the front of the base?

I just realized that the vg2 had the hex endcaps. And as stated above that bag will work perfectly fine. I do recall seeing one before and know someone who had a eureka 260 I believe. I had found a brushroll for whim wit square end caps. I will look for ya and if I find one I will send you the link.

It has the 3.5 amp pancake motor most likely. Those motors were more powerful than the blender motors I believe.

3.35 amps - thanks for helping me find a brush roll. I'm thinking I might have to custom make one out of a new roll with the end caps of the one that is on there...
