Hi and a Merry Christmas to all!
Recently I found a nice Electrolux epic 6000 sr 1718 and knew when I bought it the on/off switch was sketchy but figured I could repair it.
Turns on if I hit the switch the 'proper' way, other than that it's awesome....

My question is when I go online to buy the switch assembly the ones I do find are for epic 6500's only, no mention of the numerical model number eg 1718 etc....are these parts interchangeable for the most part between series numbers 6000/6500?

It's not a lot of money if the part doesn't fit, I'd just like to get it right....
I live in Canada Btw....

I took my machine apart to check it out and it was a busted plastic clip that held the body of the switch together. I had some small (3mm) screws and was able to salvage it.
It's still pretty worn but some contact cleaner freed it up....I would prefer to have a big honking rocker switch on it like on my old ap100, oh well some day.I disabled the full bag switch while I was in there, one less switch to break.

I tried to start the vacuum again this morning and if anything it was worse then before the repair.
So disassembled it again and saw the spring loaded swing arms in the switch body wasn't pushing the slide switch far enough along....so I added a shim made from scrap brass, Pic # 1.I also removed any moving parts that were once part of the "full bag" function.
That did the trick.
Pic # 2 shows the portion of the switch that had the molded male clip that broke initially, this part doesn't seem to be available from Electrolux/Aerus, a darn shame.
So all is good! Works first time every time, just like a Zippo lighter.
