Can anyone tell me what model/years that Electrolux used the telescoping wand instead of the interlocking wands? The sheath is turquoise as well as the PN-1 power nozzle, from an L/1205?
because they were flimsy and broke easily. They were introduced in the middle of the 1205 run, and then replaced with the two-piece metal wand and plastic sheath in later models of the 1205 and of course thereafter. The same telescoping wand was also used in the Canadian ZB89 (two-tone green).
...the telescoping wands were sold were 1968 to 1972. I was selling the 1205 and L at the time. I believe it was in the summer of 1972 that we switched from the telescoping wand to the long, steel wand with sheath. Then the cleaner came with two additional aluminum wands for straight suction cleaning and above the floor.
At this same time there was much bruhaha about the first pistol grip hose. The connector which carried the current to the wand and then to the power nozzle was always shorting out. So they went to an new goose neck hose end and a cord that extended from the end of the hose itself to the sheath. This did work better and actually I liked the goose neck hose ending because it was easier to reach over door frames and other places where the original pistol grip was too short.
During that same time we were replacing the original plastic wands that accompanied the model G power nozzles with the steel sheeth covered wands. It was almost a daily service item when you were canvassing a neighborhood. There would always be at least one somewhere. You'd get to a house and they would bring out the Model G and say..it worked good except for this. They would show you the cracked power nozzle handle and out to the car you would go to get the new one.
