Has anyone ever retrofitted a power nozzle to an older Electrolux like the LX or the Model E? I know purists would find this anathema. But it might make an interesting and fun project for someone with the skills!

With a salvaged two pin socket, careful planning, reverent consideration, a sharp blade and a Dremeltool it's certainly do-able.

I'd like to put one on an LX. I'd use a rubber socket pigtail cord running to the chassis electrics entering the vacuum's bottom and mount the socket flush in a cutout in the Hose Bezel's rubber bumper that hits the floor, so that when the bag door flys open the electric connection stays live and follows with the hose, which probably has a clipped on cord.

Mmm...

I wouldn't be thinking.....

about any NEW projects there, Mister. Are the "G" wheels completed yet? Hhhhhhmmmmm?

LOL

Rick, no I haven't finished my first project with the G wheels! I guess I would someday like to try the project just to try it. I always modified my cars when I was a teenager. My Dad used to gripe about my projects. His constant refrain was, "Son, they paid some engineer in Detroit thousands of dollars to build that Oldsmobile. Why do you think you can make it better?" Then he'd change his clothes and help! LOL! I guess I'm a little like Tim "the Tool Man" Taylor! Always looking for more power!

Lux Retrofit

At the Convention this year Charlie Cascaldo brought a Lux XXX fitted with a power nozzle. It also had a different motor, but I couldn't tell you what nozzle and motor he used. I think one of them was Sebo.

Hey Jeff,

He used a PowerNozzle from the S24/36 Series Simplicity or Riccar, and a Miele motor I believe.

I'm 100% on the fact that it was a Tacony built Powerhead, wand, hose ( modified with a lux canister end ferrule, and motor from another brand...again 99% sure it was Miele.

Cleaner rather well IIRC.

Lux LX's and E's with power nozzles

I happen to have both models of Lux's that have a Power-Nozzle port. I didn't investigate thoroughly as to how they were wired, but it might be wired up similar to a G. Anyway, I happen to have an LX and an E with a PN port.
