I just purchased an Electrolux LX on ebay. I am not an Electrolux collector but I do love the ones with the sleds. I am sure its been asked a million times but could anyone give me a little Electrolux timelne? as a kid.my grandma and my mom both had Electrolux machines. I believe they were from the mid to late 60s canister models. thanks Bill

Hi Bill

Congratulations on your LX purchase. I have a few of that model myself and I absolutely love them! They are absolutely amazing machines, and if the bag ejector is working properly, they're an absolute blast to mess with your friends with. There's nothing like seeing the stunned/puzzled look on soneones face when the motor shuts off, the door opens, and that bag gets shot several feet across the room! Anyway, to address your question, I'm posting a link to Aerus' history where you can download a pdf of the full timeline, and I'll enclose a flyer I found a couple of years ago that I found on a dealers website. For laughs I'm also enclosing a photo of that vac in its full glory. I hope this helps answer your question. Enjoy that LX!

Steve

Cool Chronology...

...but the Power Nozzle info may be a little off. I have a 1969 vintage 1205 that has a PN-1, but the chronology shows they stopped production of the PN-1 in 1967, the year before the 1205 came out, and that the 1205 would have shipped with the PN-2. The thing is, I've seen plenty of 1205's paired up with PN-1's for it to be a coincidence. If that is accurate, it would lead one to conclude that Electrolux had something like a two- or three-year supply of PN-1's on hand when they stopped production. Seems pretty inefficient to me, but I'm looking at it from a contemporary perspective where just-in-time inventory is an accepted fact of life for most manufacturing operations.

The model 1205 came with the PN-1 until 1972 when the PN-2 was launched. They were producing PN-1's right up until the changeover. The PN-2 came with the last 1205's, all of the Golden J's, and the first Super J's as well.
