Electrolux PN2 Cord Retaining Clip?

So I have this Electrolux PN2 that works great but the cord keeps working loose from the top of the power nozzle. I understand that at one time, Electrolux offered a metal retaining clip to address this problem; in fact, mine has one side of the clip remaining in place. The other side and the top piece are missing. I've looked online but this part seems to no longer be available as a new part. Anybody know where I can get a NOS retaining clip or even a used one? Any ideas of what I might be able to use as an alternative to hold that cord in place? Surprisingly enough, I have another PN2 that doesn't have the retaining clip at all and the cord stays in place pretty well.

I just solved my own problem...

The definitive answer to the question in the post above regarding alternatives to the cord retaining clip is 'just a little ingenuity'. I had the PN2 apart to polish it (came out great, btw) a little while ago and one of those 'nothing to lose' ideas came to me, so before I put it back together, I threaded the cord through the hole where the plug goes, then forced the top of the plug through with a flat blade screwdriver. I wiggled the plug into place on its receptacle as I put the cover back on and now that it's screwed down, that cord ain't goin' nowhere! It's amazing the engineers at Electrolux didn't figure that little trick out 40-odd years ago. Or maybe they did and didn't bother to tell anybody.

You're welcome. I'm going to do it to my other one as well. I love it when a simple solution works out like that.

BTW, the upper shell of that PN2 looked like lead before I started polishing on it. I started with Turtle Was Rubbing Compound (the red stuff) to break down the oxidation and then went over it with Mother's to put the shine on. I buffed it with a Black Magic Bullet polisher for chrome wheels that goes on the end of a cordless drill. It's still got some scratches and pits, but it's shiny.

Two different cord designs

Last night, I pulled out my other PN2 to fit the plug under the shell and made an interesting discovery. The plug on its cord is an entirely different shape. It's broader and chunkier, trapezoidal like a Mayan pyramid. It would never fit through the hole the way the lower profile plug on the PN2 I just acquired does. The nice thing is the fatter plug is more stable and has less of a tendency to pull loose. The smaller plug tends to flex forward toward the power nozzle's motor when the wand is raised to a more upright position, so maybe Electrolux did quietly address the problem. That said, I would have designed the plug with a grommet-like lip that would firmly attach it to the upper shell and keep it aligned to more or less automatically connect to the receptacle inside when the lid is pressed into place.
