For you Electrolux experts out there...

The Super J had a much more powerful motor than its predecessors of the same body type (i.e. the Golden J and the 1205). Anyone know if the Super J motor could be used to replace the motor in a 1205 (i.e. are the motor mounts in the exact same place and would it be completely interchangeable and compatible?)

Thanks!
Michael

I don't think it would fit without alot of trouble. Lux made the whole machine longer with the super J compared to the golden J.
Maybe someone knows more about the motor changes.

I didnt work on alot of the super J's or golden J's here but if I remember correctly the motor mount is totally different. Later replacement motors have the screw holes to accomodate either type of mount though.

Mike,

Another thougtht here...you may be able to use or at least adapt the "Perfect" motor which from what I have heard, is far more powerful than the original Lux motor.

Yes, the perfect motor is probably one of the most powerful on the market. Mine puts most built in to shame when you use a suction gauge or airflow meter at the end of the hose. But, the perfect motor is 5.7 inches in diameter, the 1205/Super J is about 5.25. You would somehow have to widen out the bulkhead inorder to get a newer style motor in.

Hope this helps.
