Model G odor
My experience with every model G I have run across is that they all have this distinct odor that no other model Electrolux has and it won’t go away. On mine I was thinking it was the aluminum of the back end of the main unit but now I’ve realized it is the metal they used to make the bag compartment cage as the cage is made of a different silvery metal than previous models such as the AF and E which have a different color to them. Models alongside the G such as the R and Early L had steel painted cages. The odor in my model G is strongest when I open the bag door and remove the bag telling me it must be this metal and whatever they used mixed in with it. My bag cage is very silvery almost light bluish compared to the pinkish tint on my model AF.
I’ve experienced at least 5 model G’s over the years and all of them had this weird same odor specific to only the model G so it’s got to be something that was used on this model exclusively and at this point I’m pretty sure I’ve narrowed it to the bag cage material.
One of the model G’s we had at one time was a bronze one. My Father had it stored in the basement standing on its back end and something leaked into it from a pipe above and it wouldn’t run anymore so I took some parts off and we threw it away. I can’t remember what the bronze models bag cage was made of and the coloring of it, it was may years ago, back in the late 80s that we probably deleted it.
