In the process of taking apart the motor of one of my Model L's I took many photos, in particular, the order in which the fans go together. As luck would have it, my daughter deleted the photos on my camera so now I am stuck with how the different fan segments go together to complete the bottom part of the motor. If anyone has a schematic or an exploded view that would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

Ok so I figured out how to get the fans assemble back together, however, I am now stuck beyond words as to how the screws I have pictured affix. Is there a certain trick to this????

Don't those screws screw into the bulkhead of the machine? They should be the ones that hold it in place. Also, it's hard to tell in the picture, but are the brushes lining up with the commutator? They appear to be a little off - but then again it may be the angle of the photo. It does look as if the armature/commutator needs to move even more toward the rear bearing.

The brushes are indeed off. It appears I have to tighten down the screws like those in the red box in order for the armature to stop moving around in there. Oddly they will not seat. The screws go into the lower metal case area pictured above.. hmm...

The armature should have gone back into place when the lowest (cast aluminium)stationary fan housing section (where the front bearing is) was screwed down. Then possibly a washer, then a fan, then the center stationary fan section, another fan (hub down) then the final housing section. The fan housing is secured to the motor by three or four long screws and square-shaped nuts. Then, it's just a matter of attaching the motor mount to the motor casting and replacing it back in the vacuum.

I'm doing this in my head from memory - so might not be 100% accurate.....

Took it apart again and put it back together. These is play in the armature. I can put it into its proper place but if I pull on the fan side of the armature, it will move down. Something is aloof here dear Watson... For the life of me I am at a loss (not the first time)
