My late style blue Electrolux Model G arrived today. This is one of the free vacuums from Greg Bushman. On first inspection it is in good mechanical condition, and looks pretty good too.

So, I just had to start working on it. I don't plan on doing anything too crazy, so the motor is staying in. I'm just getting polishable parts off to machine polish them.

The beginning:

Top removed. The white wire will need to have its connector crushed a bit as it was loose on its prong.

The inside of cordwinder. I like the way this is setup. Its not fully enclosed like on the 1205 and newer metal canisters. It also has a distinct sound, which I hope is normal. I'd guess its the locking mechanism making the noise.

hi

nice machine, on the oic of the motor you can see the wiring of the p/n but i am wondering where it is conected to the motor. I am restorating an L model and have a bit of a problem with that. Can you help me?

Erick, that is going to be a beautiful G when you finish!! Electrolux just doesn't get any better than that machine.

Edgar: I also have a model L. If I find the time I'll dig into it and take some pictures. I think its wired differently then the Model G, but I'm not 100% sure.

Speaking if wiring, I ended up with a issues with the connector I was going to fix. Instead of making it tighter, I broke completly. So, I ended up doing what you see in the next few pictures.

Fix Part 1: I added a additional wire, because the original wire was too short when its connector was cut off. The end is wrapped through the hole in the prong.

Another View: I was worried about the wires coming from the lower of the two screws was too close to the metal body, but that's how they designed it, so that's how I left it.

Final: Wrapped the prong and wire with electrical tape, and attached the extra wire to the original with a twist on wire connector. Too bad the image is blurry. I might have to rip into it again to get another shot of it. Completed project pics will be posted later.

Connector

They offer a variety of connectors like what broke at Radio Shack and other places that sell Electrical or Electronic goodies so a connector should be avaiable if you really want to rig it like that some day.
