I used one of my late-model Electrolux Model Fs today. Every time I use a Model F I am impressed anew with with a wonderful vacuum cleaner it is in every way. It's beautiful and powerful; and, while not as quiet as some other models*, has that typical soothing early-Electrolux motor sound.

I remember many of these from my childhood, a dozen or so right off the bat. But most of them, except one, were the early versions with the flip-open cord winder and the front cover with no bumpers. The only one I recall seeing with the donut-style cord winder was in the home of a friend of my parents. My Dad and I went over there to visit (don't recall why) and there was a brand-new Electrolux set out in the living room, with an ENORMOUS gray nozzle on the end of the wands! I was of course fascinated but it was strictly hands-off!

Below is a link to my Model F Fantasia page. There's lots of good stuff there! :)

* The Model F was the first Electrolux since the XXX not to have a rear filter but instead an air-diffusion baffle.

Replacing the rear wheels on Models E-A and F is rather tricky. One end of the axle is sealed with a large, very sturdy, very thin and very tight cap somewhat like a rivet but was machine-affixed somehow. It really takes a lot of  "digging" to free it -- thus ruining the original cap. The only way to re-seal that end is with a pop rivet, and it doesn't look the same as the original cap.

(The Model E wheels were affixed with cotter pins which are much easier to remove and replace. Then the Model G rear wheels are separate, not connected to a single, long axle, and are held in place with screws -- very easy to replace.)

Beautiful F!

What a stunning vacuum cleaner. This is one of my favorite vacuum models of all time. That two tone gray and white paint just looks so classy!

Your Model F is fantastic along with your childhood memories of it. It seems that Electrolux must have made only a 100 or so of the gray pn's, because I've never seen another one online or in person other than yours and Tom's. Very likely only the trendier customers purchased them, and the pns in the Model G colors shortened their production.

Btw, Winnie the Pooh and Cookie Monster don't appear to be as keen on the Model F as we are!
