Saw this ad from vacuum archive and was curious about that weird wand setup


It looks like it was only used on straight suction units but man it just looks so weird. I tracked down a manual for the oxygen 6994 which shows it can also be turned in order to more easily reach low places. I saw this and thought...man that would be a pain for the average person to clear a clog from.

Yes….those “back-saver” curved wands were offered with the suction only versions of the Oxygen canisters made by Electrolux and also sold as Eurekas in North America. The idea was to help reduce the need for bending when cleaning under furniture.

I've got/had a few of this style over the years (well, I'm pretty sure I still have one lol)... Great to use, more ergonomic than you'd think & clearing a blockage was never a problem, the pipe separates into two parts at the pivot point, so no worse than clearing a blockage from a slightly curved handle :)
