Electrolux Epic Cordwinder

Hey Guys!

Does anyone have any tips on how to "jumps start" an Electrolux Model Epic cord winder to retracting once again? The cord is pulled out all the way with no play. I tried lifting it an inch off of the ground and letting it drop lightly to see if I could pop "release" the spring (?) but it didn't work. Is there a simple fix to this common problem?

Some plastic body Elux tanks will have the cord reel separate into its 2 halves.Also springs can be another problem.REMEMBER-The CW spring is the most dangerous part on the vac and can CUT YOU in an instant!!if you do not have skill and knowledge of these.
