Electrolux Canister

I am looking to buy another Electrolux canister since they are one of my very favorite brands, but im not sure which machine to buy. I had an UltraLux for a while that i loved! I was wondering how the 1521 models compare to the Silverado. Are the Silverado machines more powerful or do they share the same motor as the Diamond Jubilee line? Also. does anyone know why Electrolux/Aerus doesn't put a more powerful and quieter motor in their current machines? For a plastic machine they are very durable and I never had a problem with mine, but they just dont have enough power! They are so easy to use and i think fairly well designed but just lack the power needed to clean todays homes. My housekeeper will disagree about the power issue and she still hates me for getting a miele and selling our electroluxs! She cant stand the miele and she is right that the luxs, especially the epic 6500 is more used friendly.

i had a 70s Super J and thought it had excellent suction. maybe yours, Steven, had something wrong with it? maybe the Miele has a better nozzle? can you give an example of how the Lux suction was inadequate? btw, ive heard great things about Miele and im sure its an excellent cleaner.

I think all electroluxes are all user friendly to me. I want to add the The blue electrolux to my collection as I do have a renaissance that I just love it's the epic 6500 I think is what I want and I do intend to add a miele canister as well. I have the miele Art which I also love. everybody has different thoughts on all brands I think. I guess I'm a total Vac nut as They all seem to work for me and I love them all, I really can't bad mouth none at least the ones I have and I think I have one of every brand made.

Power

My UltraLux worked well, but i would like to know if it shared the same motor with the Silverado or was the Silverado a more powerful machine?
I had both the Renaissance and Epic 6500. The 6500 was our main vacuum and it was a good machine. I liked the design and although it was plastic it was built to take the abuse of most modern homes. I liked this machine but for the noise it made and the size of it, I dont understand why they couldn't have made it more powerful. The Renaissance was great looking machine. It was quieter than the 6500, easy to use and manuever, but the hose suction of both machines was not up to that of the Miele's. For a machine that costs more than a Miele, it would be nice if it had equal cleaning power. Don't get me wrong, I love the Miele and it is a good machine, but it has its flaws. Its hose and wheel design make their machines hard to manuever in hallways and around funiture (I have the Red Velvet and Blue Moon). Its power nozzle (the 236 with a headlight and 226 prior to the head light) are very good, but I don't think they are excellent. I have a large German Shepard and a fat indoor cat so getting the hair off some of the dark colored area rugs we have can be difficult depending on the machine. The Mieles do the job well but it takes a few more passes with the nozzle than I think is necessary for such a high end machine. I like the Miele's looks, power and quiet sound, but they have their flaws and so do the Electrolux. I personally like a tank style machine. They are for me the easiest to steer through my house, but everyone has thier own preference. My housekeeper was used to the Lux. We had a Lux before the Miele and a metal lux for her before the plastic machines. She cleans a few other homes that all have Electrolux so its just her preference. I think her biggest complaints are the hose and how its difficult to steer it through the house.

Epic and Renaissance

do not seem to have as much power as the just-previous models, the Diamond Jubilee, Silverado etc. I have to say that the Silverado is my favorite "new" (?!) Electrolux. I put "new" in quotes since by some standards I guess it would now be categorized as a vintage machine. Gawd, I'm getting old.

Miele, Lux, Power and Price

as any vacuum expert will tell you, price has NOTHING to do with performance or cleaning ability. and on a canister, the design of the nozzle and brushroll determine cleaning ability more than suction.
