I'm sure several on here remember Service Merchadise. I some what remember they carried Electrolux in both their catalog and show room. My question is does anybody know what models they were and possibly have the pictures from the catalog?

Electrolux marketing

This started about 1990 with the Discovery II and LE canister.Great standard models that had new colors including burgundy and light blue for different retailers. They were briefly offered by Sears.Sams Club had current Electrolux representatives demonstrate and receive commission.
This also started mass confusion among customers and resentment from long time Elux salespeople as to why a standard model was sold at a store for much less than a slightly more deluxe model from a door to door salesman.---And now we have Aerus and there is still something with the name 'Electrolux 'at Sears and Lowes.

Service Merchandise?!

OMG!  I remember that store!  We had one here in an enclave of my hometown.  I LOVED that store... thought it was so cool that you would buy the stuff you want, then go to the pick up area.  Sooner (or sometimes later), your order would come down a conveyer belt and get picked up by someone at one of the registers.  Mind you, I was like 8 years old or younger, but it left an impression on me.

Actually those were the Regency Series machines (Powder Blue trim) which included the upright, shampooer and 3 canister models - 1000, 1500 and 2000. The 1000 was essentially an LE, the 1500 was a 2100 and the 2000 was a 2100 which included the sidekick and second set of wands.

The Wine trim ones were the Special Edition machines and included the upright, shampooer, LE and 2100

Sears Canada also sold these American Electrolux canisters too. If I'm not mistaken, Sears Canada also offered a central vac from the company at the time as well.

HA! - I loved that store, too!!!

I frequented there in the early 80s to late 90s when they disappeared. At 11 or 12 I would ride my bike there to play munchman on the TI computer, blast some of the boomboxes with Billy Squire, and crank up some of the big stereos in the acoustical room. GREAT MEMORIES!
Bad thing was that they rarely had what we wanted to buy in stock - always a rain check that rarely came in.

I have a couple of their old catalogs - I will look to see what they had in vacuums later this week (despite this being an old thread). I am going in for a cervical fusion tomorrow morning - no fun (or comfort) for a while...
