I haven't said on the forum, but I'm waiting for an Electrolux 502 to arrive (been dispatched for 4 days, damn Parcelforce!) which could be for spares for my 502S, or could be a runner if I can fix her up.

Anyway, I was just wondering, apart from the minor aesthetic changes, was there actually anything changed between the 502 and 502 Super Suction ?

Jamie the motor wattage was 500 on the 502S and 425 on the 502. The 502 and 504 were replaced by the 502S and 506. But soon after this Electrolux wanted to launch a third upright cleaner, the 550. So the 506 became the 560, and the 502S carried on as it was, until such time that all three were discontinued. I think the 502S may have been available for slightly longer as it was an exclusive model to Comet during the final years.

It was a lower wattage ? Really!? I didn't know that! Thank you so much Benny, without your wealth of knowledge VacuumLand wouldn't be what it is :)

Lower wattage than what? Sorry but not sure which you refer to as what. The 502S had a 500 watt motor and the 502 425 watt. So the 502S had a more powerful motor than the 502.

The wattages were 425 for 500 and 502, 450 for 504, and 500 for 502S.

The 506 was 550 watts. The 550 was 550 watts and the 560 was 560 watts.

From there, and until the 600 series was replaced by the Contour and the Twin Turbo by the Glider, the wattages stayed at 550 for standard cleaners and 560 on electronic models.
