Found this Electrolux at a thrift store for $3.00. Suction is not good right now, I plan on taking it apart soon and cleaning it up real good, any advice would be great. Thank you.

I f you put a new bag in it just before testing, the hose is probably shot, this could be the main reason why succion is not good.

A good cleaning won't hurt anything, though.
 
upside down is the preferred way to open it.
There are platic slides under the side bumpers that slide towards the bag end to unlock the two halves.
Peel back the each side bumper in the front, grab the slide with needle nose pliers, and pull.
Others bang them from the back with a screwdriver to pop them loose.
 
Even with a bad hose, you absolutely stole that sucker at just $3.00. I agree with what others have said. Woven hoses may look pretty but they become leakers over time. A good vinyl hose will put that machine to rights and considering what you have in it, you won't be breaking the bank to do it.
