Electro Hygiene Model 666 - Hose Issues

While I was cleaning and organizing my collection (pics of that later) I dug my Electro Hygiene out of the basement. I was using it and it the hose kept clogging, and I noticed that I had taped up one end of it. I unwraped it to find out why, and I found that the handle end was about to fall off and the stuff I was cleaning was always getting caught in the imperfection. So, now I need to figure out how to fix the hose properly, and how to clean it. The hose is fairly dirt and the yellow color makes the dirt show up too well.

This is one of my earliest ebay purchases from a few years back and it has always been a mess, and now I want to get it looking reasonable.

You may have to shorten the hose a few inches but that's an easy hose to unscrew with patient cleverness. That's the uncrushable type such as Royals use on uprights, drum canisters and cylinders. hygiene903 Jeff Schroff Sr. can give you tips and tricks - he used to sell them.

I wash hoses like that in the bathtub with a potato brush and dishwashing detergent. Hang it up to damp-dry and then blow warm air through it to chase away any remaining moisture.

Fixing the hose turned out to be easier than expected. Now I just need to clean it. All of the metal needs to be polished and the rubber needs a good scrubbing.

I was going to tell you how to fix the hose, but sounds like you've already figured that out. But anyway, a little Mother's Mag on the chrome and some NuFinish car polish on the tank and it should look pretty nice. And if the NuFinish doesn't bring the finish back, try a little rubbing coupound. Good luck, and am looking forward to seeing the finished product, as well as the rest of your collection.
