How long do these last?
My mother in Law and I have one. Her’s is 5 months older than mine-

Her battery won’t last more than 3 minutes and found out batteries cost $120 to replace
She also has a spring hinge that broke off and would like to fix it, if she can.

My V8
Battery is definitely not what it used to be.
Filters are definitely getting clogged that they need replaced as well.

Is it worth replacing the battery? How long to these machine last aside from replacing the battery?

They are typically “broom” vacuums not deep cleaning- I use a rainbow for that!

Is there another stick vacuum that performs just as well? They are expensive to replace!

Dyson says they should last two to four years.

That being said they are made in Malaysia which in my opinion is a step below China.
They are good about their warranty so I would collect on that if you're having problems.

When you're ready to replace it there will be a few more options on the market that are not out yet. I assure you they will be very good and worthy of investment.

Battery

The battery lasting only 2 years is typical really. Especially when used in Max mode.

Vacuumdevil:

With regards to Made In Malaysia or China. There's nothing wrong with stuff made in those countries!! After all where are Iphones made? I think that's a very pig ignorant attitude to have in 2020!

Quality of goods is down to engineering and quality of materials used! Not country of manufacture!

Dysons that were Made In England were not that good in terms of reliability, if anything, the 'so called' quality of Dysons has improved since they transferred manufacturing to Malaysia.

If your and your mother in laws machines are within the 2 year warranty I would contact Dyson directly for assistance. The direct drive brush bar on my v7 stoped spinning after a year and 5 months of continuous use and Dyson replaced it for free, because it was still under the 2 year warranty. The same can be said for my dust container that broke the red clip and I couldn’t empty the bin. They ended up giving me a new bin/cyclone thing. These 2 issues happened within the first 2 years, less than that, of owning my v7. Now when I had my v6 for over 2 years, none of that happened. But the point is, contact Dyson directly if your having issues with your machine. They should be able to fix it for free, ass long as it’s within the warranty period.

"pig ignorant attitude"

@blakaeg
There definitely is a problem with stuff that is mass produced in low-quality.

Yes you can have stuff made in China of high-quality. Example: my wife was made there and I can assure you she's of the highest standard of quality.

But Dyson's point with making stuff in Malaysia is to take advantage of the cheap labor rates and lacks labor laws. I wouldn't have a problem if Dyson charged accordingly but they try to charge premium prices for a non premium product.

My V6 battery died after 4 years, often daily, seldom on high. Checked Amazon for something that I can afford, went with middle price, high rated a few months ago.$37?? I think. Working great
