Dyson Free on gumtree advice

Just a question, How can you tell if this Dyson is worth going for? I am not sure if it is a scam cos it looks a bit dodgy. The person has not said why they are getting rid of it. It should be perfectly working but why is it free? kind of suspicious?

Would you go for this if u wanted it?

I'd go for it, depending on how far I had to travel of course. I found both my tri stars in the trash, among other things that have made me shake my head in wonder.

It might be fine, it might be a mess and only good for parts, they may have gotten a new one and just don't want it anymore.

Scam

I fail to see how this is or could be a scam. Someone would want money or card details off you if they were to scam you. Unless of course the owner intends to mug the person who arrives to collect the cleaner.

Well they might get responses from people who might actually need the Dyson. Just give it time until you get a reply.

I wouldn't want to drive to London to get some beat up old Dyson. Its not worth the petrol cost and the bother of negotiating London's congested streets. Brum to London about 120 miles, that's a 240 mile round trip. Say Parwaz's relation's car does 40mpg, that's 6 gallons of fuel at £6 a gallon. SO that "free" Dyson will really cost you £36 plus your relative's time.


And you don't really know if it works properly.


I'd not bother.

On Gumtree, I don't usually feel much like bothering with sellers who only give an email address and no phone number. Its a bit of a waste of time in many cases as the item will have gone but the seller doesn't bother removing the listing or answering emails. I've contacted sellers about a few items on Gumtree to be told "oh, it went the other day, sorry!".


Its usually easier if they give a phone number so you can ring up and find out straight away about an item instead of messing about waiting for replies to emails.

I was going to buy a DC14 early model origin, I was first to buy it, we offered £10, then the other person. but then it got sold!!! I was so pissed off
this wouyld annoy me now if I dont get it

That's too bad - it happens to all of us. How many times do you see something on Ebay that you want, then before the auction ends, the seller sells the item to someone who contacts them outside the rules of Ebay and ends the item early.


This happened yesterday with that green Miele. I was really annoyed when it ended early as he sold it to someone outside the auction, then lied, saying there was an error in the listing.


Money talks Mr Parwaz - and those with the fattest wallets usually end up getting the items, with no regard for anyone else but themselves.

Dyson isn't worth buying

I never owned one Dyson, but from what I read, they have wimpy air-flow (somewhere just over 50 cubic feet per minute, while most vacuums are around 100 cubic feet per minute), they're beater brushes don't seem to beat carpet much, and they're made of cheap flimsy plastic that makes you want to treat this vacuum VERY gently so you don't break anything! Their hoses are also stiff, and make the vacuum fall over easily and break. Not worth buying in my honest opinion. The DC41 may have much better performance than probably any other Dyson upright; however, it's made of cheap flimsy plastic just like all its predecessors, so it's still not worth its premium price if the thing just easily falls apart.

I went off topic quite a bit on my last reply, sorry. I just started typing whatever comes to mind about Dyson because I honestly have a negative view of them with what I believe about them, but it may be a good vacuum to go for. If I did like Dysons and saw this, I'd honestly get it!

dyson is actually a good vacuum, the DC41 is actually a HORRIBLE vacuumn. the performance , well the suction is not as strong as aDC04 (dual cyclonic dyson)
The most powerful Dyson is the DC07
The plastic is actually not brittle now. They are British designed, the vacuums are good but the brushbar lets the vac down.
