Dyson DC27 in stock

Hello,

The delayed Dyson DC27 is now available to buy online in the UK.

I have seen it at Litlewoods Extra and it should be available at all Shop Direct group catalogues including Kays, Additions, Empires Stores etc.

I am going to get another Dyson next week and am toying between a DC07 All Floors, DC14 Toolkit, DC19 Toolkit or DC27 Animal.

I don't know which one to get now the DC27 is available. I would have gone for the DC14, but I am tempted by the new model. I can get a DC27 Animal for just under £165 or the DC14 for just over £60. I will eventually buy all the models, but as I have owned versions of all the others before, it would be more exciting to unbox the DC27 as I have not seen one in the flesh. Decisions decisions. Perhaps our resident Dyson expert Jack could help. Failing that, I'll just have to write down all the models I want and pick one out of a hat. (or Dyson bin)

DC27 or DC14, that is the question.

Roger - I'm flattered! I wouldn't call myself an expert, just an interested party!

To be honest, as excited as I am to see a new Dyson upright, it's really not a huge progression on what's come before. The DC27 is just a continuation of the evolution of the 2-wheeled standard upright. No real new groundbreaking technology, and I understand it's actually less powerful than the DC07 and DC14. Just a few tweaks, based on customer feedback.

I'll be at the UK Press Launch for the DC27 this coming week, and I'll report back on what transpires!

As to which one you should go for...if you're looking for tried-and-tested carpet cleaning performance, I'd recommend the DC14. I'm sure as soon as the '27 comes out, '14 prices will drop, and there will be a lot of bargains to be found.

However, if you want an example of the latest machine, go for the DC27. Personally, I'd go for the DC27, just because - as you say - it's exciting to unbox, use and evaluate something new. I like the DC14 a lot - but I'd always opt for the new experience in that situation!

I think I will go for the DC27 even though it doesn't look much different to the DC14. It is mainly due to the fact I have owned a DC14 Animal and getting another DC14 will just be visiting familiar ground.

I go through phases of favouring a particular brand, and Dyson is my flavour of the month at the moment, though it may be on the wain. I will not sell my Dysons again, as I know that they will spark my interest again even if they go on the back burner for a while.

It will be fun to open a cleaner that I have never seen in the flesh. I had that experience years ago when I purchased a Hoover Sensotronic Audio 300. I had seen pictures of it and even saw it demonstrated on Tomorrow's World, but I had never seen it on display in a shop. I even videoed myself opening the box before pausing the tape to put the plug on and then demonstrating it. Yes, I was recording cleaners in action long before YouTube came along. I still have that footage and will be including it on YouTube ASAP. I may record opening my new Dyson!

So did I. And I immediately wanted one, but could not afford one as I was a destitute teenager.

When Tomorrow's World showed the Electrolux Trilobite robot vacuum cleaner in 1996, I wanted that too. Thankfully I got my mitts on one in 2003!

I'm pleased to hear you're going for the DC27, Roger - I'm sure I'll get one too, although I don't know exactly when. If I feel it's a better cleaner than the DC07 and DC14, I may sell those and invest in a '27. But we'll see...

I have ordered the DC27 Animal. It should arrive on Wednesday.
I'll take some photos and show them on here along with my first opinions.

Calum, I managed to video most of the Tomorrows World feature on the Sensotronic. Howard Stapleford or Stableford was demonstrating it with the brand name covered with black tape. Unfortunately, the BBC didn't cover up the Hoover logo on the dustbag. The cleaner was heard to say, "Bag is not correctly fitted" and after blocking the tube with tape, the cleaner said, "Hose is clogged, clear the blockage.

I never heard my Sensotronic say "Bag is full" without giving it a helping hand as I never let the bag get full enough. I had to simulate a full bag by covering the dust compartment filter with a plastic bag. I also got it to say the forth command, but only after taking it apart and using a hairdryer on the thermal cut out switch until it clicked. If the motor overheats, the Sensotronic says, "Have motor checked by a qualified service dealer."

I remember the black tape on the sides of the cleaner, covering up the Hoover name. I could tell it was a Hoover because the hose hand-grip and extension tubes gave it away.

I had it on videotape too for a while; I even tried an early video capture of it via the BBC 'Model B' Microcomputer, with a third-party add-on peripheral.

I always think it is strange that Dyson places their newest machine in the middle of the line up. I would have placed it after the DC25.

What is all this rubbish?

"Auto height adjustment:
The cleaner head on DC27 adjusts automatically to each floor – creating a tight seal at all times and removing more dirt."

Note: all done without employing a pneumatic actuator, or a powered brush cam, or a high torque clutch (as are featured on DC28).

Hmmm, DC27 is probably no better than DC14's pick up performance.
