Very nice George - you certainly spent a bit on this one, a full overhaul. Was it the one you got from VacManTim?

lol - I bet VacManTim wants it back now! Should be good for another few years use, providing the motor is OK. Did you check the carbon brushes on the motor?

Yes I stripped it right down to the motor. Commutator isn't too black and carbons aren't Too bad lol, took a while to get the thing out of this motor housing thing thought lol.

When I used to do up Dysons (usually DC07s) for resale, the amount of motors that were arcing out due to shorted armatures was very high, and on pretty much every one, there was plenty of carbon brush length left. I think that so many motors (the YDK type) are ruined long before the brushes wear out, mainly due to users not keeping the filters clean. What you have done by changing out the filters should help prolong the motor's life.

Very nice.

<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: book antiqua,palatino;">Very nice Mr G, You've done a good job there.</span>

<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: book antiqua, palatino;">I'm glad the motors not like two Dyson motors I took out today. I think they've seen better days lol.</span>

<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: book antiqua,palatino;">I wonder why they didn't run well....lol

That's a hell of a lot of rust - were these vacs left outside, or subjected to flood damage? They look like DC04 motors?

Hi,

<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: book antiqua, palatino;">Hi Steve, I have no idea what happened to the Dysons before I got hold of them. The YDK motor was dry when I opened the machine up.</span>

<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: book antiqua, palatino;">When I switched on the DC04 with the Amtek motor in it started spitting out water. I very quickly switched it off.</span>

<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: book antiqua,palatino;">Both motors came from DC04s. One had a broken handle as well.</span>

<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: book antiqua, palatino;">Sam I certainly won't be be selling these with those motors in unless I want to be on rogue traders
