Once again, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion makes her annual appearance at the Halloween season, as she has done since 1987.

She's looking quite a bit the worse for wear, and I almost sent her to the Home for Wayward Hags. But I didn't have the heart to do that to her. So here she is, in all her radiant glory, along with some photos from years' past.

Happy Halloween, everyone!

I'd take her out

to the ball game, but thats just me. I think she'd make a great mascot for the world series.
We're a bit upset with Justin Verlander being traded to the Houston Astros.
Go Dodgers!

<span data-ft="{"tn":"K"}">Some people have asked me about this, so here's an explanation (other than insanity!)

Dorothy started out as an elaborate make-up involving plaster casts and baked foam latex, and a costume culled from thrift shops. I actually wore the costume to work in Century City and won some big prizes!

Then I kept the make-up face, which came off in one piece, the wig and the costume. I put the wig and face on a styrofoam wig head and hung the clothes from coat hangers.

I've put her in various places over the years -- in the back of my car, the front-passenger seat, looking out the rear window, on the front porch, on the balcony with a fly swatter and a huge spider and then, this year, seemingly floating a foot above the balcony wall!
