I went to the doctor today.

Co-pay: $8.00.

Parking: $12.00.

It really galls me how patients have to wait and wait and wait in doctors' waiting rooms because the doctors overbook their time* and then they don't validate parking. Especially given the amount of income that physicians typically earn. This outright penuriousness is rather off-putting.

Patients are obliged to pay (sometimes dearly) for the privilege of sitting in uncomfortable waiting-room chairs with nothing to read but three-year-old issues of  "Woman's Day" and pamphlets advertising the doctor's specialty.

It's rarely possible to find street parking because typically doctors' offices are in high-density areas where parking is severely limited by meters or outright prohibited.

In my next life, I'm going to own a medical office parking garage where I an just recline in a comfy chair in my little pavilion and count the money as it pours in.

(*Granted, sometimes it's due to a medical emergency that the doctor has to deal with but that's not usually the case.)

I hear you. I just got home from a doctor's appointment that had been rescheduled and the doctor's office had neglected to inform me. At least his office was only 10 minutes away and has ample free parking.

I went today also.

Not in a city center, so free parking. My co pays are $20.
I had my first colonoscopy today. No biggy. One 5 mm paulip. Mild diverticultis, so I'll be watching my fiber and diet better.
Now I have one every 5 years as preventive.
