WOW,,that is awsome!,,you guys have good memories!,,my vacuum dreams arent that vivid,,but one particular dream i can remember, because its been so re-occuring over the years. Not so much anymore, but still once in a great while.
The real life was, Some neighbors we had once had a Beam Central Vac in their house,,and as a kid i was COMPLETLY facinated by it.
This was about the same time as when the Jetson Cartoons were a bid deal to me,,(late 60s, early 70s ),,so to me, Central Vac was like something the Jetsons would have. And just the COOLEST thing ever devised!
This particual house was HUGE,(compaired to ours),,game room, pool table, bar, formal dining room,,3 baths, ect. and the lady of the house ran a Beauty Shop out of the finished basement, so their Central Vac unit was a BIG one,,and if they were using it, and their garage door was open,,,you could hear the WHINE of the motor clearly,,,and this house was nearly a half a block away!
This Central Vac had a long brownish hose, with a Preco Powerhead,,and that too was extremely cool to me. As were the inlet ports,,the round door kind. They had many through out the entire house,,at least 8 or more. The inlets were brass.
I used to have fun trying to find all the inlets. A few were not in the walls, but in the FLOORS. I remember they had one inlet in the dinning room floor.
Also there were a full set of attachments, the same as that would have come with a deluxe Eureka canned ham model of the same era,(early 1970s),,the extra wide floor brush, the regular carpet tool with the flip up/down brush, and all the usual attachments. All the attachments and wands, with the elbow, were in a cardboard carrying case. They kept the hose and attachments in a downstairs work room/storage closet, that the Dad used as his workshop.
The dream is always of me using that Central Vac,,and/or living in this house.
Luckily, i DID get to actually use it a few times in real life.
I guess the reason its in my dreams so much (not as often as it used to be tho)is because the people who lived there had ALOT more money and ALOT bigger house than we did,,so, i guess i was impressed by that.
Their Central Vac sure made our dumb old Hoover Connie look like a piece of CRAP!! (to me at the time anyway) haha
Now i wish i still had that old Connie!
(Side Note); A couple of years ago when i was in the area, i drove thru that neighborhood and past that house to see if the garage doors were up,,YEP, sure enough!,,and that old Beam Central Vac was STILL there!
