I’ve heard people talk about display vacuums at stores being real vacuums, but the only display vacuums I see at stores (besides Costco) are fake. They always have fake plugs, and other fake parts.

Yes you just missed out. I bought all of Big Lots floor displays as they clearanced them out back in 2020. They told me when I bought them that these were the last ones they would be able to sell because the new ones are just shells, they don't even have cords.

They are difficult to find, but I have about 5-10 store display vacuums currently with original shelf tags and photo verification of them on display. One Menards, one Home Depot, and the rest Big Lots. I may or may not have a Dyson display from Walmart, but I cannot be fully certain if it was or wasn't. It has a store property salvage tag on it and the cord is cut off.

I only have one. It's a Dirt Devil of some sort. Vac & Dust? Something like that.
It's NIB, so it was never actually displayed. But, the cardboard box is marked as a Walmart display unit.
It looks like a working unit, has the dusting pads and stuff. But, it doesn't have a cord. And, I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't have a motor.
I just thought it would be a neat/unusual addition to the collection.

Great find, Barry. I suspect they will be a niche rarity in the coming years and decades to people that want to collect them. Remember all those cardboard prop TV's, VCR's and videotapes that they used to stick on entertainment centers and dressers in the furniture stores back in the 90s? People collect those now and they are extremely hard to find.
