Dishwashing Accessories

I've seen several references to collectors washing their accessories (dusting brush, crevice, etc.) in the dishwasher. Are there any guidelines that should be followed? i.e. certain kind of dishwashing detergent, no heat cycle, etc.? Any help would be appreciated
